Wangz Hotel Review

The Wangz Hotel is a peaceful urban oasis in the middle of Singapore that caters to both leisure and business travelers. The boutique hotel offers uniquely decorated rooms that feature a more hip nature theme, such as Pop Art flower prints. Guest rooms offer plush bathrobes, a variety of great toiletries, views of the city, and free beverages in the minibar (water and soda).

Highlights

  • Complimentary breakfast at the rooftop Upper Place
  • Stylish bathrooms with city views and rain showers (some with relaxing bathtubs)
  • Close to subway and the Tiong Bahru hawker centre
  • Rooftop lounge/restaurant with panoramic views of Singapore’s skyline
  • Interesting artwork throughout the hotel highlighting its flora and fauna theme

The Room

We booked the Canopy Room for our stay at the Wangz Hotel. For the price (compared to other Singapore hotel), the room was better than I expected. First of all, the king-size bed was probably the most comfortable bed ever! Entertainment amenities include complimentary Wi-Fi, a Google Chromecast, DVD player (on request), and cable tv.

There’s also mini-fridge with complimentary water, soda, and other drinks. We definitely took advantage of the free water since it’s so hot in Singapore! These drinks are also restocked every day.

Most of the rooms at the Wangz Hotel only have a rain shower in the bathroom, but one of the reasons why I booked the Canopy Room was for the bathtub so I could have a relaxing soak after a long day in the sun. But don’t get me wrong, the rain shower is nice after so many hours in the heat as well.

The Extras

Two of the things I enjoyed most about staying here were the complimentary breakfast at the Upper Place, the hotel’s rooftop restaurant, and that you are given a smartphone to use for free during your stay. Not only can you use the phone throughout Singapore without having to pay for data, but you can make free international calls to certain countries too! A nice touch that let me call my mom on Mother’s Day.

The breakfast may not have enough choices for those who like the typical Western breakfast, but it included dumplings, fruit, many different, cheeses and meats, and pastries. All of which is my ideal breakfast.

Where is the Wangz Hotel?

Wangz Hotel is located on Outram Road. It’s around a 10 minute walk to the Outram Park MRT and around 15 minutes from Chinatown. Hourly shuttle service is offered by the hotel to the MRT station and a couple other locations. The hotel is situated in Singapore’s Tiong Bahru neighborhood and is just a short walk from the Tiong Bahru hawker centre.
